Building a compressor

Hello,

I suppose that to build a compressor, I have to use the Env Follower and a Vol audio.
But as I don't understand what indicate the Env and the Db outlets of the Env Follower, I'm creating very interesting effects, but not exactly what I want!
As you can see, I all have to learn!

The Env and Db outlets are two versions of the same data. Both the Volume modules (mono and stereo) have Gain inlets which have the same data range as the Db outlet, while for instance the Cross-Fade module has the Cross inlet which has the same data range as Env.

If you want to have a "real" compressor, I would think that you're better off patching in a VST one, but if you want to mess up the dynamics to create or control effects, you're on the right track!

To build a Compressor you need a real knowledge.
Of course, the idea is very simple, but making one that sounds good is very difficult...
I suggest you to use your favourite VST.

Take a look on the 'stupid compress' patch somewhere in a sequencer demo songs (I can't remember which one...)
It's really a stupid compressor...

I was just thinking that a VST was using more CPU... except maybe when bypassed.
Is it possible (and useful) to put a Bypass on heavy patches?

I'll try to find that "stupid compress" and talk with him.

Waiting for a recall-working "split-range module", but don't worry, take your time. I have also a lot to do on my side and it seems that I'm alone now to use it.
