Usine v4.2 had the Welcome Touchscreen workspace that would slide interface windows into position when a mouse down was sent from a panel, Or in v5 the patches in grid view have "magnetic" edges when expanding or collapsing them....
I am looking to do something similar. I have containers that are visible in the ib that when I hide (or collapse?) I would like all the other containers to move over (in order) and fill in the empty space.
Can I do this? For sure pressing "Reorganize Controls" in the ib does not put things where I want them and for it to work it has to be automatic when I show / hide containers...I can't even figure out what pressing reorganize in a container module should do?So far nothing as I can tell...
I have the feeling the answer is no but it's worth a shot...?
Or maybe there is a way to tell a container any variable XY position to move in the ib? Scripting perhaps?
XY position inlets for containers to set position of container in parent container or interface builder would solve this problem nicely...!
Interface Reorganize?
the 'automatic-reorganize' is the same in the V4 and the V5.
Except that minimized items are sorted by creation order.

I don't think automatic reorganize can work for what I am doing. What I have is mixer style channel strips that are made from two containers each, one for the bottom section of fader, mute solo etc and one for the top section, sends, fx etc. so I can hide the top section when not in use.
When I use Organize in the ib, I just end up with a jumble of containers that do not fit, besides it is the wrong approach.
What I would hope to do is have say 16 or 24 or 32 channel strips but be able to make it so that only the strips I choose as in use would be visible and positioned next to each other. Ultimately the containers would seem to have have magnetic edges so that when a strip was no longer visible in the ib, all other channel strips would snap in place, not leaving any gaps between channels.
I assume the technology to do this must already be in Usine as the reorganize feature already does this, just not to my immediate liking.
That is why I wonder if perhaps container XY locations could be set with a script...but even if so, scripting unfortunately is way over my head.
What do you think about my idea of container having XY position inlets (and outlets) to set the position of a container? This seems like it could be very usefull in a variety of applications.
I also like the idea of being able to collapse a container to just a thin vertical or horizontal strip, or even small button...
