the most used algorithm is certainly..
fractal noise

the one I often use it has a parameter named octave to generate differents scales,
big ones, medium, small, to make a more complex image out.
I really think it could have good audio applications, any challenger on this one:
create a fractal algorithm/ random patern array
or maybe one day usine could read the RGB value of a pixel in an image? (sound stupid to make sound, i reckon, but those textures might be cool sound textues too ?)
I can manually draw 3 differents size variations arrays but im sure benjamin has a better tool to "genererate"
