I can't figure out how to specify the device for a particular midi input .device file. Or even how to discover what it is once it is saved under another name......
How is this handled? There is a midi input device object, but it does not seem to say anywhere what device it is responding to..... is this just hardwired when it is created? If so, it would be nice if it is displayed somewhere besides the default title.
I read the wiki section on this, and didn't find anything helpful.
thanks for any help

To follow up:
I'm finding that when I for example plug in a midi interface to a different usb port, I get an input object with a different name, i.e. 'interface 2'.
So if I want my midi input processing to work, I then need to copy the input patch from 'interface' to 'interface 2'. Next time I plug 'interface' in, it's very unclear which input object I will need. Only one works at a time.
It seems to me that it would be nice to have a control on the actual input module to select which interface input it actually refers to.... does this make sense? Or at least it would be nice to SEE which interface it refers to.
I saved some input objects under a different name, and now there is no way to even tell which interface they respond to. This seems needlessly opaque.....
So maybe this is a feature request not a question? Or is there something I really don't understand???
