Hello All!

Exploring the Grid, I just cannot seem to get the inspiration from other DAW...so I am looking at solely what it would take to for me to produce in Hollyhock. Here are some personal things that I found would help me.
Please comment with a +1 if you agree on a specific, or let me know what you think, or add more detail necessary.

1. Drag and Drop Automation Curves (Grid to Grid, Rack to Grid).

2. Automation Write via MIDI. Maybe a listing of all MIDI enabled parameters like how the Curves are shown for the grid elements. If you enable from there whenever you press Automation record you can just change by MIDI without having to click the individual Knobs/faders etc... This would allow more simultaneous Automation changes.

3.Option to automate like in #2, but choose whether this affects the Grid or Rack Automation

4.Ability to rename Curves at least generically for organization.

5.Top of Rack Curve header zooms like a patch, while zooming center focuses on curve nodes as it does now.

6. Grid action buttons for Loop, Pause, Move On. I think the Pause should be a secondary item...like having to Shift-Click, or a Long-Press touch action. So many times I am quickly at the last minute cycling through almost pausing where I would want to move on. For performance you would assume that it would be more detrimental to just stop the music, rather than looping it another few. I guess this is my opinion, but i think would be a good choice.

7. Grid Sections with Automation active should have an indicator, maybe like a little LED/dot at the end under the Grid action indicating.

8. More Grid Automation parameters exposed in a module that can be used for a secondary control patch.
This way to possibly enable and disable individual automation parameters from a Header Control Patch, IB, etc..

9.Multi-Record Out. Ability to have multiple output record pairs simultaneously. There are times where I am leary as I would like to go and EQ post recording without having to EQ the whole mix. I would love to be able to at least create STEMS.

Yes Good suggestions.

i need to improve the record automation for playing with it in live.

I'd like to work like that :

- I setup my controller to remote some fader, knob, switch and more in my workspace.

- Just click or Arm Record with a midi control surface.

- All the knob and fader that i move on my controller, Record Automation in Usine. Until i clic again to deactivate the Record Button.

It will be Great and very useful in live and composing research !!!

Thanks

hi cmodica,

Looking at this approach, though...probably should implement a Write Enable to prevent unintentional automation changes.
I would like to see a list, or even better as well a module to expose these for creating a control patch.
These write enables could also be MIDI controllable, similar to how common DAW would handle. This is a very needed feature I believe for quick live and production changes.

I am looking for any workarounds right now that might be available, but so far nothing deeply convoluted...lol :)

waiting for an internal solution, a workaround :

- create your midi learn,
- use a piano roll to rec your automations
- link the output to the module Send Midi to Usine
- don't forget to activate midi lan in

of course no visible curves, but automations are recorded

Also set num device to something besides 0
Also check your channels, because in mine the Piano roll converted Ch 13 to Ch 1 for the output.

Thanks Nay, I didnt realize the piano roll recorded CC, never really used for. I did see where it doesnt record the curve, but you can create one.

I've edit the piano roll wiki page, didn't remember you can edit the CC curves:
switch to controls mode , and scroll to your CC number to edit it, here CC 10
